Find the important part
A wide dashboard becomes tiny in a portrait frame. Identify the control and the result that matter. Use those two moments to decide where the camera should focus.
Leave room for context
A close crop should still show enough of the interface for the action to make sense. If a label or navigation item explains the task, keep it visible. Avoid stretching the screenshot to fill a different aspect ratio.
Give captions their own space
Put the caption above or below the important control. Keep the sentence short enough to read while the action plays. Review the first and last frame of every scene after changing formats.
